Wage labor especially is slave labor with an end date. In the early 20th century, Americans viewed wage labor as nothing more than slavery. Lincoln’s Republican Party used this as one of its campaign rally cries. In wage labor, an
instead of being owned by the company or landowner you were renting yourself to them. This rent had a mural or self-imposed end date. Such as indentured servitude.
Being able to fend for one's self was the criteria for beginning a family. It wasn’t until a man could take care of himself and his dependent would he take a wife and begin on the quest of building a life. People didn’t have offspring until they could support or make sure they had the ability to keep said offspring alive. In comparison to today. Sex is good and feels good so people today have sex without the thought of how shall we care for the child which is a by-product of that sex. In early America, this was understood. As Blacks most of us never had this understanding or imperative. We were keep and forced to breed, with the understanding that the master would support the offspring. Actually, the care for the young was not even thought of bc the master would do with the young as he chose. We lost this understanding and live under his paradigm today. Therefore, we must instill the knowledge of care for one's own well being and care for one's dependents as criteria to reproduce. To have a healthy society, everyone must have responsibility for one's dependents and in the rare case of the missing authority, we must practice solidarity. We can not support men and women who make children with no intent to care for them. Knowledge must be issued.
Furthermore in early America, As people flocked to cities it became harder and harder to take care of ones self. Men would seek work or support & would rent themselves to owners and this give over the responsibilities to companies for the well-being are of ones family.
